Ottawa artist Cathy Busby and Halifax based 
conceptual art star Garry Kennedy team up for an 
exhibition at Halifax's newest and most talked about 
art gallery, the Bathroom Gallery.  An opening 
reception will be held Friday, July 13th from 7-9pm.  
Everyone is invited to attend.  The exhibition continues 
through to August 5th.

This month Cathy Busby and Garry Kennedy present 
'With Apologies/Brushstrokes'.  The exhibition will 
feature towels embroidered with apologies from 
political and religious leaders.  Garry Kennedy went 
shopping at the drug store for his contribution.  
Kennedy will be displaying a wide array of bathroom 
products featuring brush strokes as part of the 
package design -"very abstract..very Pollock" says 
Kennedy.

The gallery was established by residents and 
curators Evan Quigley and Sarah Bennett who 
decided they would offer the otherwise empty space 
of their bathroom to innovative international artists.  
The Bathroom Gallery is a fully functional bathroom 
complete with all the traditional amenities.  Artists are 
invited to work around and with the sink, tub, and toilet 
to produce works that would otherwise not be 
exhibited in the white cube of traditional galleries.

The public is welcome to drop by Sundays from 
2-4pm.  Admission is free.  The Bathroom Gallery is 
now offering the unique opportunity to bathe with the 
art on display, a nominal fee of $20 will allow for a 45 
minute private bubble bath.  You will leave feeling 
relaxed, refreshed and cultured!

The Bathroom Gallery is located in Halifax, Nova 
Scotia.  The gallery is open to the public Sundays 
from 2-4pm or call (902) 431-2099 to make a private 
appointment.
